Items We Are Able to Accept
If you have something to donate please use the Contact Us tab above, or call our office (01252 616998) we only have one line so please be patient, to discuss what you have and to arrange for us to collect or for you to bring to site. If we collect, our driver will make the final decision on acceptability.
We welcome donations of most household items, including electrical appliances. However due to the various insurance and health and safety requirements, and to the sometimes very restricted nature of the homes to which we deliver, we do unfortunately have to impose some limitations. It is also essential that the items are reasonably clean and in working order, and in suitable and safe condition for transportation.
As regards electrical goods, we do carry out statutory electrical testing and dispose of any items that fail the tests. However disposing of failed electrical items is difficult as mentioned below, so to keep their numbers to a minimum we are only able to collect items in working order and in reasonable condition. We are no longer able to accept electric ovens.
Test failures and any items we collect but find are not suitable for placement have to be disposed of at the local waste transfer site. We do have a charity permit for the site, but this is closely watched to ensure we do not use it too heavily. We dare not risk having the licence revoked, in which case we would have to pay at the tip, and this means that we have to be very selective in our collections. Further more, the list of items the waste site will take is constantly being reduced. For example, TV sets, refrigerators and freezers are not now accepted as they are regarded as hazardous. For these reasons our collecting teams may find it necessary to decline donations they consider to be in very poor conditions or, in the case of electrical appliances, unsafe or likely to fail electrical safety tests.

Washing machines, Refrigerators, Freezers and Fridge/freezers in good condition and no more than 8 years old.
Microwaves under 5 years old
Televisions, flat screen, complete with remote controls but not wall mounted no more than 5 years old
Vacuum cleaners under 8 years old
Kettles
Toasters
Other kitchen appliances
Household:
Beds single & double, must have fire safety label's
Bunks, not mid sleepers or double bed bunks.
Small settees (2 seater only with fire safety label's)
Fireside chairs, must have fire safety label's
Tables small drop leaf or 4 seater only
small dinning chairs (only taken with a table)
Coffee tables / small side tables
